OMM launched the world's first ‘Fresh Skin Care Productsʼ and initiated the era of ‘Fresh Skin Careʼ. It is the only brand which offers a complete line of products enriched with active Lactobacillus. Lactobacillus dramatically improves the activity and nutritional level of skincare products, ensuring well-being of our skin by delivering efficacious results.
In 7th century BC, Europeans performed the first caesarean surgery. Since then, men have gradually mastered this birthing practice which they found favorable for human parturition. However, many have forgotten a basis of evolution that has been occurring for billions of years –- that earth’s living organisms were designed to procreate through natural birth not caesarean.
In the 1990s, the downsides of caesarean birth came to light. Babies born via caesarean were found to be more susceptible to lungs problems, emotional stress and skin sensitivity as adults. In 1995, the ‘Nature’ magazine published a study on how people of caesarean birth suffered weakened skin immunity due to the absence of a type of Lactobacillus that was transmitted from mothers during natural delivery. In 1996, European scientists identified the Lactobacillus, isolated and obtained its strain.
Over the following years, scientists discovered that the deficiency of this unique Lactobacillus could also result from environmental pollution, poor diet or an erratic rest schedule. In the beginning of this century, as people began to seek solutions to improve skin immunity, they set their eyes on the world’s Magical Land of Beauty -- South Korea.
As early as the historical Spring and Autumn Period, soybean paste has been recorded as a miracle food in the Korean Peninsula. The Korean Palace regarded it as a national food that would influence the fate of the country. Hence for the sake of the nation’s prosperity, court officials would often toil themselves during the annual Soybean Paste Festival. People of that time did not know about the mystery contained in the jars – Lactobacillus. Despite their ignorance, they were making good use of it.
In 1926, Korean Crown Prince Lǐ Yín and Crown Princess Fāng Zi travelled Europe. While in France, their royal physician O Rén Yì, stumbled upon a piece of Normandy cheese lying on their dinner table and found it contained Lactobacillus Casei, which supported skin health. Thereon, he proposed the idea of adding Soybean Paste Lactobacillus into skincare products. Unfortunately, the lack of scientific knowledge in his time stifled his idea.
Even so, OMM is still destined to be born in this magical land!
At the beginning of this century, Korea’s advancing technology and revolutionary research on the potential of Lactobacillus and skin immunity made OMM Korea a representative in Lactobacillus skincare; currently affiliated with top global research group, Kolmar Korea.
Similar to the Korean's experience with soybean Lactobacillus - from unfamiliarity to utilization, experimentation and extraction; OMM too explored the world from scratch, in search of that distinct Lactobacillus strain transmitted from mothers to babies. They triumphed in 2006.
In celebration of this remarkable milestone in the skin immunity research, and in honor for nature’s meticulous gift bestowed upon mothers to protect life during childbirth, came the brand OMM. The letter ‘O’ represents the initiator of Lactobacillus skin care – O Rén Yi; the letters ‘MM’ to honor all magnanimous mothers.
OMM – Give Your Skin Mom’s Loving Care!
OMM undergoes an intricate production path, beginning from a formula to the final delivery of finished goods to consumers. Fresh skincare products are highly sensitive to temperature and time influence, making bulk production for mass demand unfeasible under ordinary manufacturing methods. This problem was aggravated by the Lactobacillus’ low survival rate and having its active component penetrate our skin.
Nevertheless, under the unrelenting efforts of OMM’s team of experts, all major problems were eventually solved. On top of that, notable enhancements in product efficacy, permeability and functions such as moisturizing, repairing and soothing were made.
Like a mother’s steadfast love, OMM is always dedicated to doing more. OMM’s next reach to new heights is to eradicate the harmful skin effects of conventional cosmetic.
In 2010, OMM ultimately succeeded in adding live Lactobacillus strain into its products, becoming the world’s first Korean ‘Fresh Skincare’ brand to offer Lactobacillus in all its cosmetic lines.
OMM engages ‘LOVE’ to create fresher, healthier and more natural skin care products; bringing about exquisite skincare products for all beauty-seekers to indulge in.
